Youth protection

Children and youth under 18 years of age are only allowed to attend public film events if they have the appropriate age rating.

The legislation provides for the following age ratings:

released with no age restriction

released for children 6 or older

released for children 12 or older

released for children 16 or older

no age rating (i.e.: released for young adults 18 years and older)

The accompaniment of a legal guardian does not invalidate the legal regulations!

Exception:

For films with an age rating of 12 years or older, children from 6 years of age may be admitted to the screening when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The age rating is determined by the voluntary self-regulatory body of the film industry. The individual age ratings of the films can be found on our notices.

Furthermore, the cinema visit is regulated by the law for the protection of minors (JuSchG, §11):

Children under 14 years of age

are only allowed to attend film events that are finished by 20:00.

Youth under 16 years of age

are only allowed to attend film events that are finished by 22:00.

Youth under 18 years of age

are only allowed to attend film events that are finished by 00:00.

Attendance is always subject to the age rating (see above)!
